Bio:Bertie Plaatsman is a Dutch-born photographer and awarded documentary filmmaker, based in Auckland. She is interested in how people live their everyday lives, and their relationship with their environment and objects.

Plaatsman has a strong sense of curiosity, which is reflected in the variety of subjects in her work. Her favourite quote comes from American fashion photographer Bill Cunningham: ‘He who seeks beauty will find it’.

Plaatsman holds a Bachelor in Design and Visual Arts from Unitec Institute of Technology, and her work has been shown in New Zealand and overseas.
